Let me act as your travel agent and help you pick the prime location of your next spring vacation. You can go for a laid-back vibe, visit historic sites, explore outdoor activities or just admire the natural beauty of this earth on your next family vacation. It’s that time of year where it’s essential to travel if you live in a chilly climate and now is a great time more than ever to explore the world. I have a list of the best places for warm weather for spring breakers to have a good time and world travelers to explore with the entire family. We’re headed out of New York City in late March to our next destination!
Here are 15 places to travel to for spring break this year!
London
My family and I just went to London and we had the very best time! A few honorable mentions of fun things we did are visit Windsor Castle, explored the Cotswolds, took a stroll through Notting Hill, spent an afternoon in Hyde Park, visit Kensington Palace and had afternoon tea at Sketch. There are seriously so many different things to do there, and each is better than the next, but my biggest recommendation is to soak it all in and do as much as you can. It’s not super often we get to go abroad and when we do, we like to make the most of it!
Boston
Boston is super close to NYC and it’s a great option for a city to bring kids to. A few things we love to do when we visit are stroll through Boston Common, visit the Boston Harbor, check out the Brattle Bookshop, spend the day at the New England Aquarium, Shop on Newbury Street and find great food spots to check out. Big cities are full of great food and honestly, just exploring is fun in itself.
Paris
Paris is always a good idea! We haven’t been there in a few years, but I am always longing to go back. A few things we think are worth checking out are the Musee de Louvre, obviously the Eiffel Tower, the Luxembourg Gardens and Versailles Palace. We like to book Flytographer when we travel, they find you a photographer wherever you are going! I find that travel photos are so much better than just the pictures you can get in a studio to display in the house and put into scrapbooks, except with the trips you get the memories along with the photos!
Turks and Caicos
This place is true paradise. The water is crystal clear, they have great spas and incredible water activities. If you’re active, you should check out boat tours, go kayaking, deep sea diving, snorkeling, parasailing and so much more! My family and I love to come here and relax. It’s so nice to even just sit on a pretty beach and enjoy the moment and make memories with my family. Sometimes just stopping all the busy activities and taking time to unwind is enough of a vacation. We do love to stay active, though!
The Bahamas
How could you not love the beach?! What we love about The Bahamas is that there is so much to do and it’s pretty much all family friendly! You can go snorkeling, deep diving, a national park or simply relax on a private island. The hotels are packed with events, happenings and of course, spas! Baha Mar has some great activities like swim in a pool area that has a window for you to watch all the sea creatures! Swimming with dolphins is up there for best things to do, though.
Key West
Key West is a great part of Florida to take a spring break. There are so many things to do whether you are taking spring break from college or bringing your family. You can take a private charter, take a bike tour along the beach, see Dry Tortugas National Park, swim with dolphins or just relax on the beach!
Portugal
Portugal is an absolutely stunning place to visit. The culture is simply amazing and don’t even get me started on the food! Delicious! You can try canoeing at Furnas Lake, lay out at Matosinhos Beach, visit Oceanario de Lisboa or explore Castelo de Guimaraes. That castle is truly a wonder!
Cabo
If you haven’t been to Cabo, let me tell you this is a top spring break destination that I recommend! There are some great resorts there and so many cool activities that aren’t common. Make sure to check out the camel safari, sunset cruises, snorkeling, whale watching and ziplining! Any time there is ziplining, my kids are happy! It’s also a great place to get some great sun.
Hilton Head Island
Hilton Head is an underrated place to visit! It’s a great little town with fun local happenings. The beaches are perfect for tubing, kayaking and swimming with dolphins. There are spots to play tennis, great pools, go on bike rides and of course, shop at the cute stores there! It’s very family friendly, as well! I recommend airbnbing.
California
There are so many places to check out in California for spring break, but I would definitely recommend San Francisco and Lake Tahoe. San Francisco is a great big city to explore, you have to see the full house home and the golden gate bridge. So much good food, as well! Lake Tahoe is great for outdoor adventures. There are gondola rides, white water rafting, hiking and of course, more water activities to enjoy with friends and family.
Austin, Texas
Austin Texas is weird in the best way possible! There are fantastic restaurants with some of the best food and drinks in the country, obviously get some barbecue! You can go on the Butler Bike and Hike Trail, check out Barton Springs Pool, go to music festivals, see one of their many great museums and see the Bee Cave. This city has endless activities and is great for both families and friends!
Yosemite
This is another perfect outdoor adventure for spring break. Definitely bring your kids here if you haven’t been yet because it’s a great place to mark off your places to visit list! You can go hiking, take wilderness tours, go camping, paint pictures of nature in a peaceful environment and so much more!
Spain
Spain is another beautiful place to go! The food is absolutely outstanding and if nothing else, that and the culture are the most important reasons to go! A few notable things to do are see Granada, Valencia, Barcelona and The Canary Islands. There are plenty of parks and areas to check out, as well as beaches to relax on.
Naples
Naples is an underrated place to visit for spring break! The atmosphere there is just so different from NYC, but in such a good way. It’s calm, quiet and warm. There’s cute places to shop and eat and you can get an airbnb on the beach to make it even nicer! Waking up and being able to walk to the beach is just a great feeling on vacation. Some cool things to do are to see the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, go to the Naples Pier and the botanical gardens.
Portland
Portland is another city you need to cross of your list! It’s just so artsy and cool there, how could you not want to see it for yourself? You need to fully immerse yourself in what the locals are doing. Go to the Saturday Markets, Powell City of Books, The International Rose Test Garden, eat at Voodoo Doughnut and finish at the Portland Art Museum. I’d say this is the best place for friends, more than to bring kids to, but it is definitely family friendly, just a little chilly there sometimes!
