Selena Gomez takes a make-up free selfie reveals a glimpse of her authentic self in recent photos.
Taking to Instagram on March 24, the “Single Soon” singer posted a black-and-white photo showcasing her natural beauty, free of makeup.
Accompanying the post was a simple caption: “Real.”
Additionally, the singer and actor treated fans to another makeup-free selfie on her Instagram story. The close-up shot depicted Gomez partially squinting at the camera.

one of the most followed users on Instagram, garnered lots of love in the comment section of her post. “Good god woman, have mercy,” wrote Camila Cabello.
(Lily Collins remarked, “You’re stunning inside and out,” while Nicola Peltz Beckham expressed, “You’re so beautiful,” along with three pink sparkly hearts.
In her Saturday story, Gomez also shared a picture of herself posing on a stool in an oversized white T-shirt, as well as a collage of her with her former “Wizards of Waverly Place” co-star, David Henrie. The two co-produce a reboot of the popular Disney Channel show, scheduled to air this fall.
In recent years, the 31-year-old Gomez has tended to be authentic. In January, she discussed body image on social media. Through two separate Instagram stories, she shared before-and-after shots of herself in a swimsuit, both seemingly taken by paparazzi.
Over the first photograph, featuring a younger Gomez in a string bikini, she wrote, “Today I realized I will never look like this again…”
In a subsequent photo, Gomez posted a shot of herself in a two-piece swimsuit that covered more of her body and wrote, “I’m not perfect, but I’m proud to be who I am. Sometimes I forget it’s okay to be me.”
Gomez has previously discussed her health and weight fluctuations. In a 2023 episode of Apple TV+’s “Dear…,” she recounted her experience with lupus and bipolar disorder.
“My weight would constantly fluctuate because of certain medications. And obviously, people just ran with it,” she expressed in the episode. “It was like they couldn’t wait to find something to bring me down. I was being shamed for gaining weight because of my lupus.”
In the same episode, she described how online hate affects body image, mentioning that she had previously responded to certain comments about her body.
“I would go online and post a picture of myself, saying, ‘It doesn’t matter. I’m not accepting what you’re saying,’” she recounted. “All the while, I was in the room posting and crying my eyes out because nobody deserves to hear those things.
“Even though I posted these things saying it doesn’t bother me, because I didn’t want it to bother other people going through the same thing, getting shamed for how they look, who they are, who they love,” she added. “I just think it’s so unfair. I don’t think anybody deserves to feel less than.”
