Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is nearing another milestone in the ongoing Test series against England. Rohit Sharma could join the elite club of Indian cricketers with 19,000 runs in international cricket, becoming the fourth Indian batter to achieve this milestone.

Rohit Sharma is currently leading the Indian team in the five-match Test series. The home team sustained a 28-run defeat in the first Test in Hyderabad. However, India bounced back strongly with a 106-run victory in the Visakhapatnam clash, leveling the series at 1-1.

Rohit Sharma needs 490 runs to reach the milestone of 19,000 runs in international cricket. He has amassed 18,510 runs from 493 innings at an average of 43.14. The right-handed batter has notched up 46 centuries and 100 fifties in his illustrious international career.

Sachin Tendulkar currently tops the chart with 34,357 runs in 782 innings. Virat Kohli holds the second spot with 26,733 runs, followed by Rahul Dravid with 24,064 runs in the elite list. Rohit occupies the fourth position for the most runs in international cricket for India.

Rohit’s Test form has seen a decline since the West Indies tour last year. He hasn’t reached a half-century in his past eight Test innings, including the South Africa tour and the ongoing series against England. However, India managed to secure a 1-1 draw in South Africa.

The 36-year-old opening batter has accumulated only 90 runs in the ongoing series against England, averaging a modest 22.50 with the highest score of 39. However, the veteran batter boasts an impressive average of 61.52 across 26 Test matches played on home soil.

KL Rahul Ruled Out Of The Rajkot Test vs England

India recently unveiled their squad for the last three Tests, without Virat Kohli. KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja secured spots in the team for the upcoming Tests against England, but the BCCI mentioned that their participation in the Test next match is subject to fitness.

On Monday, the BCCI confirmed that KL Rahul has been ruled out of the upcoming match in Rajkot. Rahul was replaced by his Karnataka teammate, Devdutt Padikkal, in the squad. Notably, the 31-year-old missed the second Test due to discomfort in his right quadriceps.
