REVIEW: General Mills Cinnamon Toast Crunch Oatmeal

[ad_1]

Who knew that putting cereal in cereal is all it would take to get me to eat more cereal?!

General Mills Instant Oatmeals

General Mills is trying their hand at the other cereal, introducing five instant oatmeals inspired by some of their classic cereals. The flavors are:

  • Cinnamon Toast Crunch Oatmeal
  • Lucky Charms Oatmeal
  • Trix Oatmeal
  • Cocoa Puffs Oatmeal
  • Cookie Crisp Oatmeal

If there was even a debate about which cereal was better (hot or cold), that debate is officially over. When you take one and put it in the other to make the second better, you’ve officially declared which one rules and which one needs help. Just wave the white flag, game over.

They’re gunning for straight up domination of the cereal game by making the first hot cereal I actually want to eat.

This review is part of a series. Today’s General Mills instant oatmeal is:

General Mills Cinnamon Toast Crunch Oatmeal

General Mills Cinnamon Toast Crunch Oatmeal

General Mills Cinnamon Toast Crunch Oatmeal is a cinnamon oatmeal with a Cinnadust topping, which is pretty much just cinnamon and sugar.

It’s ironic that of all the new General Mills cereal oatmeals, the only one that literally has “Crunch” in the name of the cereal doesn’t have a crunchy topping.

Inside the box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch oatmeal, you’ll find separate packets of the cinnamon oatmeal and separate packets of the Cinnadust topping. The latter just looks like empty packets because it’s just cinnamon sugar, and they probably should have just combined it all into packet.

Go ahead and Google “cinnamon sugar oatmeal.” Now pick any of them. You won’t be able to tell this cinnamon oatmeal apart from it, because all of them taste the same. From Quaker to Great Value, the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Oatmeal tastes exactly like it.

The only difference here is you were expecting more, therefore you are sad.

If you dump the entire Cinnadust packet in one spot and then eat the entire glop of it all it once, it tastes pretty good. But then you’re left with some terribly bland oatmeal, so I don’t recommend that. This really needed something more substantial as a topping to get anyone excited.

You can make this at home right now with things already in your pantry.

Burning Questions:

  1. Are you ever gonna make this at home? Nope!
  2. What cereal might have made a better oatmeal? Golden Grahams Oatmeal!
  3. Ohhh that sounds good! No it doesn’t!
