The lightest Fizik Powerstrap Aeroweave shoes just got 10% lighter while retaining their professional race-ready stiffens, unparalleled breathability, and performance simplicity. By reworking the structure of the full-wrap-around velcro straps and building out an all-new ultra stiff carbon sole with new aero benefits, Fizik made the open mesh shoe better than ever for hot weather road riding and racing

Developed for the hottest races in the peloton, the Fizik Powerstrap Aeroweave v2 matches a tough but open net-like mesh upper to a top-tier full carbon sole, and ties it all together with a couple of simple but efficient wrap-around velcro straps. No fancy boa dials, no unnecessary add-on tech. Just the pure essentials for hot weather road performance.

What’s new?

From the outside the only really visible difference vs. the first generation Aeroweave launched back in 2019 is new colors. That’s not to be discounted though; cause white road shoes are faster, right? Actually, flashy feels fast too. And this Coral pink and orange will match your new Fizik Proxy off-road shoes if you are into cross-training for the road.

But really what’s new is a subtle reworking of the wraparound Powerstrap straps. They get much lighter thanks to new webbing that mixes materials like the Aeroweave upper does.

The new semi-translucent strap is just as strong but feels thinner due to the new weave. It still wraps all the way around your foot for a simple but surprisingly stable and supportive fit, delivering separate instep and mid-foot adjustment.

New R3 full-carbon sole

Next up is the new R3 carbon sole. It’s an all-new design for Fizik with top-level 10/10 stiffness. And we expect to see it make its way into the rest of the Fizik road shoe family over time.

Fizik developed a new carbon layup to shave grams without sacrificing stiffness for the new R3 sole. But it really is the shaping that is the biggest change. The carbon sole is now more symmetrical along the front/back axis of the shoe – with a raised area at the cleat, a small raised rib towards the toe, and two wider raised ribs that run all the way back to the heel. The raised forefoot fits the nuts to attach the cleat, and the ribs provide necessary stiffness, all while keeping the sole ultra-thin next to the foot. The design also allows for 2 large air vents just in front of the cleat. With improved airflow out the back through the wider stiffening ribs.

In the end, Fizik claims that the all-new sole design “provides maximum power transfer” as well as “enhanced temperature regulation”.

It seems that the construction of the Aeroweave upper hasn’t really changed. The net-like upper weaves together opposing translucent thermoplastic filaments and more conventional nylon fibers to create a supportive, durable mesh structure that allows for unrestricted airflow.

Lighter, stronger wrap-around Powerstrap velcro straps. The same popular open mesh Aeroweave upper. And a lighter, more ventilated maximum stiffness R3 carbon fiber sole. Together Fizik claims the revamped Powerstrap Aeroweave weighs just 184g (per shoe, without insole). That’s down a full 21g compared to the original – making it Fizik’s lightest road shoe by a long shot.
