IPL 2024: One player from each team who could impress as impact player

[ad_1]

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 approaches, all the teams are busy preparing strategies for the world’s most significant cricket league. The impact player rule introduced last year provided teams with good options to manage talents in the squad, and they will now once again be looking to use this to their advantage according to the situation in the upcoming event.

What is impact player rule?

While the rule might look like a provision for substituting players mid-match, it comes with certain restrictions and guidelines. Notably, an overseas player can only be brought on as a substitute if the teams don’t feature four foreigners in their playing 11; otherwise, only Indian players can come in as an impact player. Additionally, an impact player can be introduced into the game before the start of the innings or after the completion of an over. He also needs to be called before the 14th over in an inning.

Chennai Super King’s new recruit Sameer Rizvi can be the perfect choice for an impact player in chasing situations for CSK. The Indian power-hitter is known for his six-hitting abilities and could cross the boundary line with flair. Sameer had a stellar UPT20 league last year and amassed 455 runs in just nine innings for Kanpur Superstars. He can be a dark horse and a game-changer for CSK in tough situations.
