Heart Shaped Waffles For Valentine’s Day!
[ad_1]
Valentine’s Day is here this week and I’ve been looking for a fun breakfast to make the kids! They love to help out in the kitchen and when I found this heart shaped waffle maker, I knew this was exactly what I needed. Add some strawberries, chocolate chips, nutella or even make red velvet waffles and you’ve got the perfect Valentine’s Day breakfast! What is a better Valentine’s Day breakfast idea than heart-shaped waffles?! The best part is that it cooks so quickly.
This is easy to make as a weekday breakfast, just add your batter and you are good to go. Last year, the kids wanted to use cake mix and add fresh berries. Waffles are the perfect main dish for a breakfast board on Valentine’s Day morning! Make your favorite waffle recipe and use a cute little mini waffle maker to spread a little love with easy breakfasts. Bonus points if you have heart plates!
Over the years, I’ve been super careful about buying foods with gluten in them. We tend to gravitate towards a gluten free lifestyle, but of course we are not perfect at times. I started this about nine years ago. Some of my reading and research suggested that there could be some benefits by omitting gluten. I can tell you that I have definitely noticed a difference. It is a challenge to follow gluten free guidelines, especially when eating out so it’s important I plan ahead, either researching restaurants, or packing appropriate snacks.
Nowadays, there are plenty of gluten free options, and I’ve been having some fun experimenting with new recipes. For a rainy day activity, I thought it would be a fun to create gluten-free waffles as a snack. Since making “sweet treats” for Valentine’s Day with Holstein Housewares Donut Maker was so easy, I thought we should try out their Heart Shaped Waffle Stick Maker. Siella was of course my special helper as our thing together has always been baking in the kitchen.
The Waffle Maker bakes 4 heart shaped waffles in just 7 minutes, and it comes with a recipe booklet, offering ideas to make just about every creation from chocolate to red velvet treats. I opted for the Vanilla Flavored waffles, and tailoring the recipe with gluten free flour. The Dash mini waffle maker is super easy to use and we love it because it stores easily in our apartment. Anything with a heart shape is so sweet, but a heart waffle for my little loves is the perfect way to say I love you.
I actually think this waffle maker makes some of the best waffles and I love how quick it is! Just spray it, add your waffle batter and make the perfect size waffles for breakfast! When we finished baking, we used chocolate spread from a local french bakery, along with some strawberries to top our waffles. Skinny popsicle sticks turned our creations into fun lollipops. Ryder was psyched to come home from school, and find the sweet treats made just for him. It’s all about the toppings, though!
The perfect finishing touch is of course, your favorite toppings. I stay away from food coloring these days and go right for fresh fruit! It’s a special occasion,so adding some sort of chocolate to the festive waffles is an addition to the simple recipe.
The batter made at least 20 mini waffles, and I froze the leftovers, for future breakfast options as well as a springtime treat. These Holstein treat makers are ideal when baking with kids and who knows what you’ll be able to create.
