On Monday, Shehzad Poonawalla and Amit Malviya, leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party, criticized Supriya Shrinate on Kangana Ranaut for a “disgusting comment” about actor Kangana Ranaut allegedly made from her account.
They insisted that the Congress leader should be sacked. Kangana Ranaut responded by condemning Shrinate, asserting that every woman deserves dignity, citing her own diverse roles in movies.
Congress leader Supriya Shrinate caused controversy on Monday by sharing an Instagram post about Kangana Ranaut, prompting the BJP to call for the immediate removal of the social media head of the Congress party for the “distasteful remark.” The post featuring Kangana’s picture with an inappropriate caption has been taken down.
Kangana Ranaut, the BJP candidate from Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh, criticized Shrinate, stating that she has portrayed diverse characters in films and emphasized that every woman should be respected.
Dear Supriya ji, Over the last 20 years of my career as an artist, I’ve portrayed various women. From embodying a naive girl in Queen to portraying a seductive spy in Dhaakad, from depicting a goddess in Manikarnika to embodying a demon in Chandramukhi, and from playing a prostitute in Rajjo to portraying a revolutionary leader in Thalaivii,” Ranaut expressed in a post on X.
“We need to liberate our daughters from the constraints of prejudices, transcend the mere curiosity about their bodies, and above all, refrain from using sex workers’ challenging lives or circumstances as some form of abuse or slur… Every woman deserves her dignity,” she further added.

“Shrinate, the chairperson of social media and digital platforms for the Congress, clarified X by stating that someone who knows her would recognize she would never make such remarks about a woman. She asserted that someone had accessed her accounts.
“Regarding a recent incident, someone gained access to my meta accounts (Facebook and Instagram) and posted a highly offensive and objectionable message, which has since been removed. Those familiar with me would understand that I would never make such remarks about a woman. However, I have just discovered a parody account misusing my name on Twitter, which initiated the entire ordeal and is currently being reported,” she explained.”

“The BJP criticized Supriya Shrinate on Kangana Ranaut
Her Instagram post, with BJP leaders Shehzad Poonawalla and Amit Malviya condemning her remarks. Malviya, who heads the BJP’s national information and technology department, urged Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to take decisive action against Shrinate.
“Supriya Shrinate on Kangana Ranaut of Congress made a derogatory comment about Kangana Ranaut on Instagram. It’s appalling to see such behavior from a Congress member. If Kharge has any authority in the party, he should immediately remove her, or resign,” Malviya, also the head of the BJP IT cell, stated on X. Shehzad Poonawalla also criticized Shrinate’s comments, describing them as despicable. “Supriya Shrinate’s remarks on Kangana’s team are despicable! She should be fired immediately. Will Priyanka Gandhi raise her voice? Will Kharge ji take action? Where is the ‘Hathras’ lobby now? First, they justified Sandeshkhali, then Lal Singh’s Congress ticket, and now this,” he posted on X.
“These are the same people who preach love, but also hurl insults at the Prime Minister and even his late mother. They make derogatory remarks about Shakti, aiming to eradicate Sanatana. They’ve targeted Shakti before, then Karnataka Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi attacked Yuva Shakti, and now they’re targeting Nari Shakti. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate has made disgusting comments and posters about Supriya Shrinate on Kangana Ranaut, who has been given a Lok Sabha ticket from Mandi,” he stated.
Supriya Shrinate Issues Detailed Clarification
In a video she posted, Supriya Shrinate explained that she promptly deleted the post once she became aware of it. “Multiple people have access to my Facebook and Instagram accounts. One of them posted something highly inappropriate today. As soon as I found out, I removed the post. Anyone who knows me understands that I would never make such disrespectful comments towards any woman. I’m trying to figure out how this happened,” she said.
Furthermore, the Congress leader mentioned that an objectionable post was made by a parody account on X. “I discovered that my name is being misused on Twitter through a parody account called Supriya parody. They made the objectionable post. Someone copied it from there and posted it on my Instagram and Facebook accounts. I’m working to find out who did this among those who have access. I’ve also reported this parody account,” Shrinate added.
Supriya Shrinate on Kangana Ranaut also noted that this wasn’t the first time such comments were made from her account. “This isn’t the first time. Many confusing comments have been made under my name before. I may also close this account. But I want to make it clear that I’m against personal attacks. I believe in ideological battles, but I can’t resort to using offensive language against women,” she concluded. (With inputs from agencies)”
