Former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist has lauded Ben Foakes for his brilliant wicketkeeping in the ongoing five-match Test series between India and England. Ben Foakes has been a brilliant keeper for England and according to Adam Gilchrist, he is the best wicketkeeper for spin bowling. India and England are facing each other in the third Test of the five-match series at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot where India has posted 445 in the first innings after batting first.

Ben Foakes has been brilliant with the gloves in this series as he has taken nine catches and has done two stumping in this series contributing to 11 dismissals in this series. He was asked to keep wickets ahead of the likes of Jonny Bairstow and Ollie Pope. Ben Foakes has been brilliant behind the wickets and has taken some excellent catches behind the wickets. Ben Foakes has been decent with the bat too as he has been involved in some of the important partnerships for England in the series.

Adam Gilchrist while talking on a podcast talked about Ben Foakes’ keeping skills and hailed him as the best wicketkeeper for spin bowlers snubbing the likes of MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant. He was in awe of Ben Foakes’ wicketkeeping on tracks with a lot of spins and highlighted that if there isn’t much spin, England refrains from playing him in the Playing XI.

“Ben Foakes is the best wicketkeeper to spin bowling in particular that I’ve ever seen. And I again haven’t seen enough of him standing back to the stumps because for some reason they don’t want to play him if there’s not gonna be a lot of spin but what he did in that second Test match was quite beyond belief. The catches he was taking, under-edges of spin bowlers. He is absolute pure class,” said Adam Gilchrist.
