It was a long day at Augusta National with some players wrapping up their opening rounds and everyone finishing off Round 2.

Cut line falls at 6 over:
And Rory McIlroy will be around for the weekend. Though, it wasn’t easy. McIlroy shot 5-over 77 on Friday to finish at 4 over par. Sixty players among the 89 that started will make the cut.

Rahm survives:
The defending champion birdied the 15th and 16th holes and then bogeyed the 17th. But a par at the last placed him at 5 over through two rounds and gave him two more to play.

JT, MC:
Justin Thomas was even par for the tournament until he hit it in the water on No. 15 and finished double-double-bogey-double. At 7 over, he’ll miss the cut.

A little more on Bryson’s irons:

DeChambeau said the irons were originally deemed non-conforming by the USGA last week.

Monitoring the cut line:
It’s currently at 5 over par. Rory McIlroy is at 4 over with two holes to play. Defending champion Jon Rahm is in the same position, after birdies at Nos. 15 and 16.

Unforced error:
After a perfect drive on the par-5 13th, Scottie Scheffler hits it into Rae’s Creek on his second shot and makes bogey. He’s back to 6 under, tied for the lead.

Make it a double:
Rory McIlroy’s approach shot finds the water at the par-4 11th. He makes a double bogey and drops to 3 over par, with the cut line currently at 4 over.

DeChambeau in at 6 under.
Bryson bogeys the par-4 18th, hitting his approach shot well beyond the hole and three-putting. He shoots 1-over 73, a solid number in very trying conditions, and is currently one back of leader Scottie Scheffler, who is currently through 11.

Brutal finish:
Danny Willet leaves first greenside bunker shot in the sand, skulls the next and then three-putts for a triple bogey at the par-4 18th. He drops from 4 under to 1 under.

DeChambeau moved a large, directional sign that was in his way before making birdie Friday at Augusta National’s 13th hole.

McCarthy has a rubber duck on his golf bag for this week’s Masters to honor the memory of 16-year-old Madison Smith, a family friend who died last fall from cancer.

Major disappointment:

Jordan Spieth (+9): Concluded an opening 79 Friday morning, his worst-ever round at the Masters by three shots.
Bubba Watson (+10): Was 1 over par through six holes of Round 2; shot 44 on the second nine, with a quad at the 11th.
Dustin Johnson (+13): ONE birdie through 36 holes.

Another two-shot swing:
DeChambeau bogeys the 14th and Scheffler birdies the eighth. Bryson leads by one.

DeChambeau leads by two:
Bryson birdies the 13th to reach 8 under par. Max Homa, in the clubhouse after a 71, is at 6 under. Scottie Scheffler just bogeyed the seventh to drop to minus-5.

Wind is whipping this afternoon:

A new (and another) record for Tiger:
Woods wrapped up his second round Friday afternoon and will make his record-setting 24th consecutive cut at the Masters, breaking his tie with Fred Couples and Gary Player. Woods played 23 holes on Day 2, closing out a 73 for Round 1 and shooting 72 in Round 2. At 1 over par, he’s well inside the cut line.

Ready for a run?
DeChambeau birdies the par-3 12th to regain a one-shot lead. He’s got the par-5 13th and par-5 15th ahead of him.

Double bogeys:
Scottie Scheffler horseshoes a 3-footer for par at the fifth. Bryson DeChambeau drops a shot at the 11th. They are now tied at the top with Max Homa, at 6 under.

Scottie Scheffler, T-1:
The world No. 1 easily birdies the par-5 second and joins Bryson DeChambeau at 7 under.

Bryson back in front:
Homa bogeys the 11th while DeChambeau birdies the seventh.

Bryson bogeys the fourth:

Just past the 1 o’clock hour:
And we’re getting closer to Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy teeing off at 1:48 p.m. EDT.

Even par for the round:
Tiger Woods made birdie at the par-5 eighth (below) to continue his topsy-turvy day. After opening with a pair of pars, he went birdie-bogey-bogey-birdie-bogey-birdie. He then made a great up-and-down on No. 9 to turn in even for the day, 1 over for the tournament.

Move it to November?
Dustin Johnson, the 2020 Masters champion, has played 23 holes so far this week and made no birdies. He’s at 8 over par.

Tiger’s last four holes:
Birdie-bogey-bogey and this chip-in birdie at the par-3 sixth. He’s at 1 under par and inside the projected cut line.

Bryson is off in Round 2:
The first-round leader pounded a tee shot down the fairway on No. 1.

Max Homa!
Playing alongside Woods, Homa hit 7-wood into the brutal, 240-yard par-3 fourth and made a 34-footer for birdie to tie for the lead at 7 under. Tiger, meanwhile, made bogey to drop back to 1 over.

Birdie at the third for Tiger:
Brilliant wedge shot — after a good bounce out of the trees off the tee — gets him under par for the tournament.

Par-par start:
For Tiger Woods in Round 2. He remains at 1 over, with the current projected cut line at 2 over. How does the Masters cut work? Glad you asked:

Like most professional events, there is a cut made to reduce the field after 36 holes of the Masters Tournament.

Round 1 is complete:
It ends just after 10:05 a.m. EDT on Friday, with Bryson DeChambeau leading the way at 7 under and Scottie Scheffler one back. Former champions Jordan Spieth, meanwhile, shot his worst-ever score at the Masters.

Spieth shot 7-over-par 79 after a debacle at the 15th hole on Friday morning.

Harman’s collapse:
The reigning Open championship shot 47 (!) on the second nine, en route to an 81. He made double bogey on Nos. 13, 17 and 18. He also triple-bogeyed the 16th and made bogeys on Nos. 11 and 12.

Harman had a disastrous second nine in the opening round of the Masters Tournament.

If you’re looking for Jordan Spieth on the leaderboard …
Keep scrolling. He made a quadruple-bogey 9 at the par-5 15th and is now 6 over par with two holes left in his first round.

Round 2 in less than 50 minutes:
For Tiger Woods. With a bogey at 18, he dropped two shots in the five holes he played to conclude Round 1. Woods shot 1-over 73 and is currently T-35.

Woods wrapped up an opening 2-over 74 and will tee off again at 10:18 a.m. EDT Friday at Augusta National.

Picking up where he left off:
Max Homa made a 9-foot birdie putt at No. 13 before pausing his opening round due to darkness. This morning, he’s birdied Nos. 16 and 17 to reach 6 under par, one off the lead.

Solid rookie debut:
Nicolai Hojgaard wrapped up his first official round at Augusta National on Friday morning, shooting 5-under 67 to place him two off the lead.
