God is continually transforming you into the image of Christ and He loves with an everlasting love, regardless of how many piles of laundry are left to do or how many dishes are left in the sink. Being a woman of God is an honor to behold, not something meant to burden you with shame and guilt.

1. Psalm 139:14 – God Created You Intentionally as a Woman of God

 For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well. – Psalm 139:14

Sometimes we forget how unique and precious our lives really are in God’s eyes. The Creator of the universe specifically knit you together in your mother’s womb to be just the person that you are–with your personality, your gifts and talents, your emotions, the way your mind works, etc. God specifically designed you to be just the way you are and He has a beautifully unique plan and purpose for your life that you alone can fulfill.

The word fearfully indicates awe, reverence, heart-felt intent, respect, and sacredness. Creating you was a holy and sacred process, one in which the Lord did not enter into lightly. He carefully placed His own fingerprint upon you, integrating His own image into the person He created you to be.

The word wonderfully reflects being unique, set apart, and distinguished from other creations. God has created you as special from every other person and has also set you above plants, animals, and even the angels. You are miraculous, wondrous, and awesome to God in every way, reflecting His intelligence, creativity, and perfect design.

Remember that God knows you intimately. Everything that He does is good; His works are wonderful and to be praised. He has created you specifically to be a woman of God for His divine purposes and He will guide you tenderly to embrace the life to which He has called you.

2. Ephesians 3:18-19 – Loved as a Woman of God 

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. – Ephesians 3:18-19

As you embrace your calling to live as a woman of God, it is important that your life is always founded in the infinite and everlasting love God has for your life. It is easy to get caught up in all the things we are supposed to do each day to be the person we want to be, but it is the love God has for us that empowers us to live out the calling upon our lives.

Notice that it is only when we are able to grasp how wide and long and high and deep the love of Christ is that we are filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Remember that God loves you for who you are, not what you are doing or accomplishing in your life. 

Also, have faith that as you realize Christ’s love in your life He gives you the fullness of God to carry out your life of faith as a woman of God. It is all about God’s love living in and flowing through you.

3. Colossians 3:23-24 – Work for the Lord

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. – Colossians 3:23-24

This is one of my favorite Bible verses of all time because it takes the daily tasks of each day and turns them into worship. When I am tempted to groan about how much I don’t want to do something, remembering this verse helps me put everything back into the right focus again.

Paul reminds us that no matter what we are doing, whether we are completing a mundane task at work or cleaning up after our children, or feeding the poor in Africa, we should do it with all of the passion and energy we can muster, working at it with all of our heart. When the tasks before you seem meaningless, remember that God has placed you in this season of your life for a reason and He will be faithful to do mighty things through you.

Envision that you are doing each activity in your life directly for the Lord, offering it up to Him as an act of worship and sacrifice of praise. Visualize Him watching you as you perform each task, smiling His pleasure down upon you as you are serving Him by being obedient to complete the work before you. 

Know that as you are faithful and obedient to God, you are receiving an inheritance from the Lord and are storing up treasures in heaven for yourself. As a woman of God, know that God is using your life in amazing ways for your good and His glory!

4. Proverbs 31:30 – Fear the Lord

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. – Proverbs 31:30

Being a woman of God means fearing the Lord above all else. Since the beginning of time, the world has acclaimed the beauty of women and tempted us to believe that our value is based on traits like external beauty and our ability to charm others with our minds and personalities. However, this verse reaffirms that a woman’s charm cannot be trusted and her external beauty is temporary.

Fearing the Lord means possessing an awe and reverence for the holiness, majesty, and righteousness of the Lord that leads us to seek Him first and worship Him for the magnificent God that He is. We are told to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33), which is the lifestyle of a woman who fears God.

Being a woman of God is based on seeking God first, walking in intimacy with Him, obeying His commands, submitting to His discipline, and honoring and worshiping Him with the way she lives her life. All the other details of our lives will fall into place when we keep our eyes fixed on Christ, longing to reflect Him in all we say and do.

5. Galatians 5:22-24 – Bear the Fruit of the Spirit

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. – Galatians 5:22-24

As women of God, we daily make choices about the values upon which we base our lives and the characteristics that we want others to see in us through our daily interactions. No matter what our roles are or how we are filling our days, we are told that we are to exemplify the fruit of the Holy Spirit in every area of our lives. The fruit of the Spirit are: love, joy, peace, forbearance (patience), kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

As you embrace the fullness of your identity as a woman of God, always look for ways that you can greater reflect the character of Christ as you model these characteristics in your lives. Are you loving your neighbors well? Do you exhibit joy as you encounter the tasks of the day? Does peace flow from your conversation as you speak with others? Are you gentle in how you approach your husband? Although we will never perfectly live out these fruits all of the time, let us aspire to grow in the ways that we bear the fruit of the Spirit in our lives as women of God.

6. Ephesians 2:10 – Created For Good Works

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. – Ephesians 2:10

As we embrace our high and holy calling to be the people God created us to be, let us remember that God has created us to fulfill a specific plan that He has created for our lives. Part of knowing that we are the handiwork of God is desiring to fulfill the good works that we are created to do in our lives.

God has prepared in advance specific good works for each of us to accomplish in our lives. He has equipped us with just the right gifts and talents and personalities accompanied with His wondrous grace and love to carry out these works in our lives. Seeking to fulfill these good works in our lives reaffirms our holy purpose and glorifies Him as others experience the goodness of God through us.

7. Proverbs 31:25 – Strong and Wise

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. – Proverbs 31:25

In Proverbs 31, which is often quoted to characterize biblical womanhood, it tells us that women of God are clothed with strength and dignity. Realize that it is an honor to be called a woman of God and as we humble ourselves before God He graciously bestows His strength and courage upon us.

There is an inner strength of the woman of God that displays that our true strength and dignity comes from the Lord and the beauty and honor that He has bestowed upon each of our lives. Let us not allow fear and doubt to interfere with the strength and confidence that the Lord has equipped us with to conquer the challenges each day brings.

This verse also highlights the wisdom with which women speak, declaring that faithful instruction is to be on her tongue. As godly women, we are called to seek God’s truth and then be faithful to share that truth with others in our lives. 

God reveals His wisdom to us as we study His word, hear His voice, and ask Him to reveal His wisdom to us. We then teach this wisdom to our kids, to other godly women, and to anyone He brings along our path, allowing others to see how God has blessed our lives with truth and insight.

8. Ephesians 5:22-24 – Submit to Your Husband and to the Lord

Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. – Ephesians 5:22-24

Embracing our identity as women of God also extends to the relationship with our husband. Just as we have submitted to the lordship of Jesus Christ in our lives, we are also told to submit to our husbands. God has established the husband in a godly marriage as the head of the household and we honor his leadership in the home by submitting to him. 

Paul reminds us in this passage in Ephesians that Jesus Christ is the head of the church, and as such the church submits to His rule and authority as leader of the church. In the same way, God has placed the responsibility upon the man for leading the household in a loving way, and the woman shows honor and respect by submitting to his leadership. May God pour His blessings upon your marriage in the days to come.

9. Deuteronomy 6:5-7 – Impress God’s Truth Upon Your Children

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. – Deuteronomy 6:5-7

There is all kinds of advice spouted at us today by the world on the best ways to raise children–things they should or should not watch, what they must know by a certain age, how to monitor screen time, what things every parent must buy for their kids, etc. However, the Lord makes it simple for us.

He commands us to love the Lord with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength and later he commands us also to love others with the love of the Lord. Then He commands us to diligently teach these commands to our children. He wants to embrace them when we wake up, when we do chores, when we play, when we cook dinner, when we relax around the house, and when we read them books.

He wants His teachings, His values, and His commands to be a part of everything we say and do with our children. If we are faithful to do this to the best of our ability, then we surrender our kids’ lives into the Lord’s hands and trust that He will do mighty things in their lives. Godly women make teaching their children the love of God a priority.

10. 1 Corinthians 14:33-35 – Conduct of Women in Church

For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints, the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church. – 1 Corinthians 14:33-35

Understandably, there has been a lot of confusion and debate about how to interpret this Scripture that refers to the conduct of the godly women in church. It is important to keep in mind that Paul was actually speaking to the Corinthian church about the importance of orderly worship when he makes these comments.

At the time, worship services had become a time when multiple people were speaking in tongues and prophesying all at the same time, causing the worship gatherings to be loud and chaotic and preventing believers from receiving any meaningful spiritual understanding due to the chaos and disorder of the time of worship.

It is in this context that Paul makes these comments about the conduct of women in church services. Paul gives many examples throughout Scripture in which women were gifted to pray and to prophesy for the edification of the body of Christ. I urge each of you to seek wisdom from the Holy Spirit as to how to participate in corporal worship in ways that utilizes your spiritual gifts to encourage the body of Christ and worship God.

11. 1 Timothy 2:11-12 – Role of Women as Leaders

Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. – 1 Timothy 2:11-12

What does the Bible say about women as teachers and leaders in the church? This controversial verse has been a source of confusion for many as they have tried to understand what this means about being a godly woman. It is clear that God has created different roles for both men and women in the life of faith.

The Hebrew word for submissiveness here means obedient, while the word for quiet indicates that one is to live a life that does not meddle in the affairs of others. Therefore, women were being instructed to learn in a way that was obedient to the truth of God. In addition, they were to hold themselves accountable to forsake gossiping and not meddle or interrupt the lives of others.

There are many places in Scripture where women are called upon to teach one another with love and wisdom, and women are also called upon to teach their children the love and commands of God. There is no doubt that teaching, sharing Christ with others, and encouraging each other are vital roles that the godly woman in Christ is called upon and equipped to fulfill.

12. Titus 2:3-5 – Important Role of Mentors

Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. – Titus 2:3-5

As women striving to live our lives in a godly fashion, it can be overwhelming trying to figure out how to honor God in the circumstances of our everyday lives. Even when we love God and trust Him with our lives, there are challenges to overcome in our marriages, in raising children, in managing time and money well, in our careers, in managing our emotions, etc.

Paul urges older and more mature women in the faith to help teach younger women the wisdom of God in loving their families, nurturing godly values, and how to submit to their husbands. Fellowship is such an important part of the life of the believer and God calls us to encourage each other with the word of God, share godly wisdom with one another, pray for each other, love one another through acts of hospitality. 

We are not just a woman of God; we are a beautiful community of women of God growing together in faith and maturity.

As a woman of God, remember that God has created you with tenderness and delight to be just who you are, a child of the Almighty God who embraces you with everlasting love and passionately adores you.

Being a woman of God is first and foremost about loving the Lord with all our hearts, minds, soul, and strength and allowing the love of God to transform every aspect of our lives. I pray that these verses provide you with a sense of hope, strength, and purpose for how to embrace your identity as a woman of God.

May we embrace our incredible calling to be daughters of the King, living each day with confidence, faith, and humility as godly women who seek to reflect the glory of God in all we say and do.
