Gilmore Girls is an iconic series that began in the early 2000’s. As you probably know, the show is about the everyday life of a single mom, Lorelai, and her daughter, Rory. Of all the cast members, most fans either classify themselves as a Lorelai or a Rory. Both are highly relatable and have a great wardrobe!

Rory’s style can be described as a mixed bag of various styles and she makes it work! Her outfits are a combination of the following clothing styles:
- 90’s fashion: Many of Rory’s most memorable outfits incorporate key elements from the 90s. Low rise jeans, lace trim camis, t-shirts under tank tops, and doc marten style boots.
- Tomboy trends: Jeans and converse are regularly rotated through Rory’s outfit selection on the show.
- Preppy: Chilton and Yale and the driving factors behind this one. Plaid skirts, blazers, and cashmere sweaters galore!
- Classy: Regular dinner with Loralei’s parents required Rory to dress in more feminine attire. We also can’t forget all of the beautiful dresses worn by Rory Gilmore throughout the years!
What is the Gilmore Girls Aesthetic?

Layers are a defining characteristic in Rory’s wardrobe. This basic striped t-shirt is a must for any 90’s outfit. I added clogs to this look as they are back in style and fit will with the sweater and jeans.

Love this look! Another layered outfit Rory looks great in! For a modern spin, I added leather Mary Jane flats.
Plaid Skirt and Tights
This list would not be complete without this outfit! She had several cute outfits with skirts and tights. This is one of my favorites because the colors are so pretty!

This look is cute, but the lace cami had to go for the refresh I did. Luckily, I was able to source a super cute top with buttons on the arm and sleeve, very similar to Rory’s! I would wear this outfit tomorrow!
Rory Dress from the Dance Competition
This was on of my favorite episodes. This dress is cute and would make a fun costume to wear with your bestie!
Rory Gilmore Dress Outfit
I wish I could link her exact dress. It is beyond pretty! I was able to put together a very similar outfit using a bodysuit and skirt. This would be another fun Gilmore Girls costume idea!
Rory Gilmore Chilton Blazer
Did Rory put “school girl” fashion on the map? Maybe! This outfit is why. There are so many ways to recreate this outfit for 2024. I chose a multi-button blazer and a-line plaid skirt.
Rory Gilmore Outfits with a Peacoat
This is one of those timeless Rory Gilmore outfits you can wear 20 years from now! LOVING this jacket I found!! It has a single collar and hidden button overlay (is that the name for it??). Regardless, I love how this mordern outfit came together. Couldn’t forget the large leather tote. She was always carrying around books, ya know!
