lil’ Mother Denim

It is so nice that premium denim lines make more styles in true petite sizing. Mother Denim now offers its most popular styles for petites under the category of lil’ Mother. Yes, lil’ Mother is on the inside of every pair of jeans so you know you can expect the following things:

  • Higher knee placement
  • Shorter Rise
  • Shorter Inseam

This line is quite popular in petite sizing. I know that because when I was looking for different styles in my usual size, 25, I had to look multiple places sometimes. That being said, when I talk about each style I will link them to various retailers that carry them. If you are like me, you may have to look at more than one place to find what you are looking for in your size.

Why Are Mother Jeans So Expensive?

Mother Denim is not inexpensive. There are a few factors that go into the price point. Some of them may matter to you and some may not. First of all, they are designed and made in the USA. Yes, the design studio is located in Los Angeles and 95% of their manufacturing is done within a small radius of their studio.

The fit and feel of these jeans are amazing from the moment you open them from their packaging. When you wear them, they maintain their shape. When you wash them (following their directions, of course) they do not shrink and go back to their original shape.

If any of those things are important, you should try a pair or two of ‘lil Mother Denim.

lil’ Mother Styles

Like any clothing brand, some cuts and styles work for your body and others don’t. For try-on and fit-tip purposes, I am wearing my normal size in all styles of jeans, size 25. This is just a sampling of their styles and not all encompassing. The styles below are some of my go to styles as a petite woman. So here’s my take on Mother Denim.

Lil’ Insider

The Lil’ Insider is a boot cut jean with a stepped crop fray hem. The fit on this style is true to size. The cropped length is perfect on my 5′ frame. I am wearing the Limited Edition wash.

I love a true light wash jean like this in the warmer months. These jeans are great with fashion sneakers. I will also wear them with sandals during the summer.

This style would also look great with booties in the fall. They come in a darker wash that would be great for that.

Lil’ Dazzler

Lil’ Dazzler is a mid rise ankle fray. It is a slim straight leg cropped jeans.

I like a straight leg jean; however, these were tight on my muscular legs from top to bottom. The waist fit true to size. This is not a style for my body. If you have thinner legs, then I thing this would be a great style for you to try.

Lil’ Hustler

The Lil’ Hustler is a high rise anlke length flare. The flare on these is perfect for petites. Not too much to overwhelm us, but enough room for booties. I wear these with heeled sandals for warmer weather and will be wearing them with booties in the fall.

You can find this style in a finished hem or a frayed hem depending upon the wash. I prefer the darker wash, Heirloom, in this style. It is one that I would wear more months out of the year because of the shoe options.

Lil’ Roller

The Lil’ Roller is a high rise, wide leg fray hem. The leg on these jeans is wide. Too wide for my personal preference on my frame. That is why I wanted to show not just the front view, but also the side view.

I am wearing a 3″ heel sandal and they are a little long on me for a white jean. If you notice, I also have “cat whiskers” at the hips. So for some reason they were a bit tight there for my preference especially when it comes to white jeans. These are just not a good style for me. I think that they would be good on someone that is a little bit taller than me.
