Manitou Mattoc Pro LTD goes retro-modern on 110-150mm Fork and Old School Graphics
[ad_1]
It may look like the first suspension fork you ever rode, but this Manitou Mattoc Pro Limited Edition is thoroughly modern. Times have changed compared to that first 1992 Manitou fork. Reverse Arch tech and much bigger stanchions mean so much more stiffness that it can’t even be compared. Anywhere between 110-150mm of plush travel out of the same fork almost seems inconceivable – with simple travel adjust spacers inside. And 29er rollover… can you believe we used to ride 26″ wheels?
Yeah, this new Mattoc Pro is worlds away from what Manitou had us riding 30 years ago. But we can still build up a beautiful modern trail mountain bike with old school black and chrome looks…
Manitou Mattoc Pro old school Ltd. Ed. all-mountain bike fork
“The original Manitou fork was versatile by necessity when, regardless of your discipline, there was one choice for your suspension needs. The new Manitou Mattoc Pro Limited Edition borrows its iconic look from 1992 yet takes all the technology from 2024 and packs it in a 34mm stanchion 29” wheel package that spans multiple riding disciplines.”
This new 29″ Manitou Mattoc Pro LE fork comes out of the box with 140mm of travel – a pretty capable all-rounder trail setup. But thanks to Manitou’s simple travel spacers, even shade tree home bike mechanics can easily set it up with anywhere between 110mm XC to 150mm all-mountain travel thanks to the simple 10mm travel spacers. That means pretty much any trail bike can get a blast from the past with classy old school black & polished alloy looks, matched with modern stiffness and damping.
Tech Details
The Pro-level Mattoc features a top-tier, lightweight Dorado Air spring with self-balancing positive & negative chambers and external bleeder screws. Plus, Infinite Rate Tune (IRT) letting you tune early & late stroke separately, and the ability to pop in volume spacers for a more progressive feel. A sealed Multi–Compression Control (MC2) damper gives external high- & low–speed compression adjustment, plus hydraulic bottom-out.
It also already gets a polished alloy crown & dropouts, machined both internally & externally to shave grams without sacrificing stiffness. The Boost-spaced fork features Manitou’s bolt-on Hexlock SL2 thru-axle.
Plus, threaded mounts for a direct-mount fender.
At a claimed 1750g, that’s pretty lightweight for a 34mm chassis. Starting out at 140mm or up to 150mm travel (but quite a bit if you want to set it as short as 110mm). Manitou claims the reverse arch adds up to 13% extra stiffness with no extra weight. Thus, they boost the ability to have such a wide range of travel out of a single platform.
Manitou Mattoc Pro LE Retro – Pricing & availability
The limited edition retro Manitou Mattoc Pro fork sells for $1100. That’s in shiny polished alloy with black legs and chrome graphics. Out of the box it comes set at 140mm of travel. But buyers can easily set it in 10mm increments from 110mm to 150mm of travel to fit their bike. The limited edition trail bike fork is available now in “very limited numbers“, direct from Manitou and the Hayes retailer network.
“While much has changed since Manitou’s inception, the desire to explore and experience adventure atop two wheels remains constant. Manitou’s passion to render that adventure as smooth as possible has also not wavered.“
