Manchester United target Loïs Openda will cost €100m to extract from Red Bull Leipzig this summer.
The Red Devils have struggled for goals all season, scoring a meagre 45 Premier League goals in 31 matches.
Therefore, it has been clear for some time that one of INEOS’ first priorities as the club’s new owners in the upcoming window is to bolster this misfiring attack.
Summer signing Rasmus Hojlund has blown hot and cold this season, but is still the team’s top scorer with 13 goals in all competitions.
A successful Champions League haul, and a purple patch of goals in at the beginning of the year, have shown everybody he has the talent to make it at the club. At only 21 years old, the Dane requires patience to blossom into a fully-fledged Premier League striker.
However, he needs help next year as the perennially injured Anthony Martial will leave the club; though if United are to sign Openda, they will have to hand over a significant sum of money.

It is reported by BILD that “RB Leipzig has set the price of Loïs Openda at €100M for the summer. He will have a release clause of €80M for 2025”.
United were said to be in talks with the German club in October over signing the player. Moreover, in December, it was relayed here that they saw the attacker as someone who could replace Martial in a future window.
The 24-year-old Belgian is lightning quick and this was demonstrated by Openda clocking a highest speed of 35.7km/h in the Champions League – the same as Marcus Rashford, with only Kylian Mbappe and Karim Adeyemi recording faster bursts of pace.
Therefore, the player’s speed would certainly fit perfectly into an attack of Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford.
However, Openda is much more than a simple speed merchant. He has also impressed in front of goal this season, scoring 21 goals in 29 matches in the Bundesliga, with a total of 25 strikes in all competitions for the German outfit. He has been described as a“shining light” for Belgian football.
Nonetheless, it is unclear whether United would have sufficient funds to spend that level of money on an attacker this summer, no matter how exciting.
With Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) rearing their ugly head, the Red Devils may have to be more creative with their summer spending. Therefore, any striker they choose to bring in may have to be a cheaper, older alternative to provide able support for Hojlund.
However, Openda’s name could certainly be one to keep an eye on, given his release clause drops to €80m next summer. If his fine form continues, even this price could represent fine value for money for United.
