Kitchen and Powder Room Renovation

[ad_1]

I’m so happy to share that our kitchen and powder room reno is finally complete! The project took about six and a half weeks and while I can honestly say I felt every hour of that six and a half weeks, it was worth it.

Let’s start with the powder room. It’s a small space and while I feel uncomfortable going big and bold, I was just wanting a change – so big and bold I went. I got this pink wallpaper and Dan installed it. It is very pink but I’m really into it!

Above you can see the before and after video I made on Instagram. The area was fine – but we were excited to give the space a little update. We did new floors, cabinets and countertops, new stove with conversion to electric, new sink and faucet, and new toilet in the powder room.

We kept the pedestal sink we already had and swapped out the fixtures. Initially I didn’t love the black and wished I’d gone with gold or a light bronze, but it’s growing on me. I got this mirror, and added a green hand towel to the gold towel holder I got as well.

I love that the blue island matches the blue of the dining room.

I love the texture of the tile – it’s porcelain and designed for interiors but it sort of reminds me of blue stone. I chose it because Buckles doesn’t do well on slick or polished tile (which is why you see a huge runner in the before video) – and he has no problem with this at all!! I debated about the blue island – whether to do a White Island and blue bottom cabinetry, or everything white – and I’m really glad I ended up with this. We also did cabinets up to the ceiling, which gives us so much more space for storage and also makes the room feel bigger and brighter to me.

For appliances, I kept the same fridge and dishwasher I already had, and we made the decision to switch from electric to gas, and I was able to find a 30” Wolf range in stock at a nearby appliance shop. When it arrived, it appeared to have been dropped (!!!!) and was dented, but a Wolf rep came out and inspected it closely, and replaced every piece that needed replacing and said we should be good to go. I used it today and it works perfectly, but thankfully it’s under warranty, if anything goes wrong in the future.

I got a little crazy and did a gold sink and brushed brass faucet – I really like mixing metals, so I think it looks good! The countertops are quartz and the backsplash is marble.

I got these handles, which I loved because it picked up both the gold and the grey – and they have a bit of texture to them that I felt looked cool.

I’m so happy with how it came out – but the one thing I’ve learned is that once you finish one project, you find forty-five more to do, so we’re already under contract to paint our bedroom and do some electrical work in there for a little updating as well, so if you’re into home stuff, stay tuned for that.
