G/FORE GALLIVAN2R: Breaking The Mold

[ad_1]

G/FORE, the brand founded on the idea of “disruptive luxury”, hasn’t been shy about bringing out bodacious and brash designs and shoes that seemingly eclipse every casual golfer’s budget.

What if I told you G/FORE has designed a shoe that features the same tech, luxury design and comfort of its most popular models for $50 less? Color me intrigued.

Introducing the new G/FORE GALLIVAN2R (pronounced “Gallivan-Tour”). A true hybrid that combines G/FORE’s best-selling shoes (the OG GALLIVANTER and the MG4+), the GALLIVAN2R is everything you know and love about G/FORE in a more budget-friendly package.

Here’s why I think the GALLIVAN2R has the potential to be G/FORE’s best-selling shoe.

A True Hybrid

If the new GALLIVAN2R was a car, it would be the new Prius. And, if you’ve seen the 2024 Prius in person, you know what I’m talking about. It’s sleek, fast and, dare I say it, kinda sexy.

All of this in a more economical package? Oh, yeah, G/FORE is doing something right here.

As I mentioned, the GALLIVAN2R is a combination of the OG GALLIVANTER and the popular MG4+.

At first glance, it’s easy to see the similarities between the GALLIVANTER and GALLIVAN2R. The traditional silhouette is hard to mistake. But the GALLIVAN2R features a slick TPU upper rather than the typical pebbled leather of the GALLIVANTER. Not only does this save weight but it makes the new GALLIVAN2R waterproof.

And it saves you some cash, too!

On the MG4+ side of things, the GALLIVAN2R relies on a very similar midsole pattern to provide step-in comfort and shock absorption. This specific honeycomb pattern is seen in both shoes. The sculpting and shaping of the heel portion of the shoes is very similar as well.

Enough about the old stuff, let’s take a closer look at the tech behind the new GALLIVAN2R.

Auxetic Midsole

A deep dive into the tech behind the new GALLIVAN2R gives a preview of the thought that went into the shoe. The biggest tell that G/FORE is serious about making a comfortable shoe is the auxetic midsole.

Auxetic? What does that mean? Unless you’re an engineer or really into shapes, you’re probably just as confused as I was.

After giving the topic my due diligence, I’ve got a firm grasp on why this technology is important and, most importantly, why you should care.

When stretched, an auxetic structure or material becomes thicker perpendicular to the applied force. In simpler terms, this means that, as you compress the auxetic lattice midsole on the GALLIVANT2R, it becomes thicker perpendicular to the force applied by your foot.

Translation? Shock absorption. Because of the midsole’s auxetic properties, the GALLIVAN2R should provide better shock absorption and possibly even energy return.

It’s also worth noting that some studies (not related to the GALLIVAN2R) have found the use of auxetic foam in shoes to help with lumbar and lower back pain.

G/POD Cleat System

In case it wasn’t apparent from first glance, after seeing the outsole, the new GALLIVAN2R is unmistakably G/FORE. Here we really see the first pops of color and, for lack of a better term, “fun” that G/FORE puts into all of their shoes.

The sole isn’t just for looks, though. G/FORE’s new G/POD cleat system and secondary traction lugs aim to provide good grip in any conditions. It’s worth noting that while the G/POD cleats give off spiked vibes, the shoe is billed as a spikeless golf shoe.

Other Goodies

Outside of the midsole and outsole, the GALLIVAN2R still features G/FORE’s massaging insole. Something that’s designed to feel better the more you walk, this massaging insole is removable and washable.

If the insole isn’t your thing, it’s easy to swap out for your custom orthotics or preferred insole.

The GALLIVAN2R also features a full TPU upper. It’s waterproof, flexible and much lighter than G/FORE’s typical leather.

Breaking the Mold

I’ve been able to take the GALLIVAN2R for a spin and I stand by my assertion that it will be G/FORE’s best-selling shoe.

It’s comfortable, cool and just the right amount of “disruptive.” Coupled with the more affordable price, the GALLIVAN2R positions itself as a viable option in the under $200 category.

In a time where golf shoes are becoming more expensive, it’s refreshing to see G/FORE go the opposite way without skimping on technology. Breaking the pricing mold is certainly a way for G/FORE to be disruptive … and I love it.

If you’ve never owned a pair of G/FORE shoes, the GALLIVAN2R is a great place to start.
