Authentic thai beef noodle featuring standout meatballs from RM13.90

Since returning from Bangkok last year, I’ve been longing for their delicious beef noodle soup. Serendipitously, as my cravings peaked, I stumbled upon recommendations online for Beef Bowl in SS15.
The restaurant is conveniently situated, just a mere 5-minute stroll from SS15 LRT station. Its storefront emanated a nostalgic ambiance with its vibrant red paint and quaint tiled flooring. This neat and welcoming exterior added to the overall sense of comfort for patrons stepping inside.
Surprisingly, the restaurant wasn’t crowded during my visit, despite its glowing reviews online. I had expected a larger crowd, especially considering it was lunchtime.
What I tried at Beef Bowl
Without much hesitation, I ordered the Original Beef Ball Noodles (RM13.90), opting for Thai rice noodles as my noodle choice. For those craving a spicy kick, the Spicy version is available for RM16.50. The bowl arrived promptly, presenting 6 meatballs and 2 big radishes encircling the noodles, all submerged in a rich, dark broth. It was garnished with fried garlic and parsley, enhancing the flavourful aroma.
I wasted no time in sampling the fragrant soup. Though I couldn’t identify all the ingredients, their fusion lent the broth a charming depth of flavour. It carried a subtle sweetness that left a satisfying taste. The soup somewhat transported me back to Thailand, even though it was still missing a little something.

Next up were the beef balls, which appeared substantial, giving me the impression that they might feel overly filling once finished. However, to my surprise, the texture wasn’t too dense, and it didn’t feel too heavy to consume. I ended up finishing all of it!
The noodles were impeccably cooked, offering a perfect balance of tenderness and firmness. Each strand of the noodles was infused with flavour of the broth, while retaining its own subtle taste, resulting in a harmonious blend of savoury and aromatic elements.
As for the radish, it admirably absorbed the flavours of the soup. However, its texture leaned towards firmness, requiring a bit of chewing, and missed the desired melt-in-mouth consistency.
As I settled in, I noticed that every table had a container of chilli flakes for patrons to help themselves to. After sampling the original flavour of the soup, I decided to add nearly a spoonful of chilli flakes to it.
The chilli flakes turned out to be surprisingly spicy, but they also enhanced the flavour of the whole dish. If you’re not accustomed to spicy food, I recommend adding the chilli flakes gradually.
Final thoughts
Overall, the meal was satisfactory, but failed to leave a lasting impression. If I ever crave for Thai beef noodles again, I might consider returning to this restaurant, especially given its convenient location accessible by public transport.
If you’re planning to drive, I suggest timing your visit after the lunch rush, as parking spaces in the area tend to be limited. Spread the word to fellow Thai food enthusiasts and drop by Beef Bowl today!
