Akash Chopra Worries as Yashasvi Struggles

[ad_1]

The IPL 2024 is at a very interesting phase. In the last match, Rajasthan Royals locked horns against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. In that match, Rajasthan Royals showcased their dominance on the big stage. But Royal opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is facing failure repeatedly. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra talked about this.

Jaiswal’s Failure and Aakash Chopra’s View:

In a thrilling encounter between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in an IPL 2024 league game, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal’s struggles against left-arm pacers continued to haunt him. RCB, batting first, set RR a challenging target of 184 runs on a Saturday showdown in Jaipur. Jaiswal’s dismissal for a duck, attempting a big shot against Reece Topley’s delivery, epitomized his ongoing struggles.

Despite Jaiswal’s woes, the home team showcased resilience, chasing down the target with six wickets and five deliveries to spare. However, it’s been a lackluster start for Jaiswal in the IPL 2024 campaign. After a breakthrough season in 2023, the young batter has failed to replicate his earlier form, managing only 39 runs in the first three matches of the season.

While being concerned about Yashasvi’s consecutive failure, Aakash Chopra said, “Yashasvi got out. I am getting slightly worried because he has gotten out to left-arm pacers in three of his four innings. What are you doing, Yashasvi? Please bat and score runs. He is a good player. However, Buttler fired this time.”

T20 World World Cup Aim:

The stakes are high for Yashasvi Jaiswal in IPL 2024, as he aims to cement his spot in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad. Yet, a dip in form could prompt selectors to consider pairing Rohit Sharma with Virat Kohli at the top. Ahead of RR’s clash with RCB, Aakash Chopra emphasized Jaiswal’s importance, cautioning against sidelining him. Chopra stressed that Jaiswal deserves a place in the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

While discussing this, Aakash Chopra talked about this. He said, “That shouldn’t happen. It can’t happen that he won’t score runs till 30th April, and will we decide based on five to seven matches that we are not going to take Yashasvi? I feel that will be a travesty.”

Later he added, “I feel Yashasvi Jaiswal should be taken. He hasn’t scored runs in two or three matches but by the time you see the review of this (RR vs RCB) game, you might say how well Yashasvi played. So I am thinking his name should come for sure.”
